Stephanie Rice, Danica Patrick, Lance Armstrong, Keiren Perkins, Jim Richards, Glen McGrath, Pat Rafter or maybe Dawn Fraser?
We all love the driving spirit that lifts a sportsperson to greatness and even more when they are the underdog.
What event do you remember that inspired you and made your day and who was that person?
Please google a bit so we can all share some info.

I'll never forget John Bertram and the Australia II victory in the America's cup 25 years ago. I sat up night after night and watched that epic event and still remember the feelings of that final (morning our time) race.

Can an anyone really top Lance Armstrong?? Overcoming testicular cancer, a brain tumor and lung cancer to win the Tour de France, not just once, but 7 consecutive times! Sure, he did go out with Sheryl Crow, but you can't hold her crimes against music against him...:)

Damn! I love the "Tour de France" scenery and images are awesome. That is enough reason on it's own to get a big screen.

The whole America's Cup challenge was a real underdog vs the might of the established rules/New York Yacht Club autocracy. I think it was 132years of USA holding the cup from inception. Australia was the first to win it off them. No one except the boys on the boat really thought we could do it but everyone hoped. Then unbelievably it somehow became 3 races all after I think 3 USA-0 Aust.
