Hi All,
Just curious as to who people have found to be good for insurance on older M3's such as an E36.
In general I am looking for:-
Comprehensive
Car is garaged
Rating 1
Private use
Happy to do an age restriction
No non-standard accessories
I am with Budget Direct but in this years renewal they've hiked the premium up considerably without any claims on my part etc. Their explanation is that the risk of the car or suburb etc. may have been re-assessed and they consider themselves a low to medium risk insurance company.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

Try RACV, they beat everyone I got quotes from and it's valued as well as insured for much more than the payout :)

Some feedback on the various quotes that I've obatained. Would be interested on people's experience with the two in bold:-
Budget Direct @ $763 p.a.
drivers over 40 only
with loyalty discount
$500 excess
$500 window glass only excess
market value - assessed at time of loss or damage but currently at $28,940 for a car in good condition with reasonable mileage
choice of repairer
lifetime guarantee on repairs for current owner
Shannons @ $856 p.a.
low use policy, once to twice a week
drivers over 25
agreed value at $28,000
$500 excess
one free window replacement
choice of repairer
lifetime guarantee on repairs for current owner
Lumley @ approx. $1100 p.a. +- $100
weekend use
drivers over 25
more competitive with older classics (nice to know the '94 isn't considered "old)
they consider the year and model hard to quantify in their situation
RACV @ $1965 p.a.!!!
for an agreed value of $25,000
My question is is it worth paying $100 p.a. more for Shannons?
Thanks
Chris

Yes.......
I have been with Dawes Motor Insurance in NSW for the last few years - fully comp protected on an E46 M3 $70k insured value for around $1,200pa I think...

Thanks - I ended up going with Shannons on an agreed value. I've been with them before and they looked after me when a dill drove his Falcon into my Alfa GTV6...

I have just done a similar ring around and Shannons have been the best price. If you have a CAMS license let them know, they will give a further discount.

shannon's just got another of my cars with a cheaper premium and slight reduction in the existing car premiums under their multi vehicle discount structure.
they also allow driver training cover when on track at certain club days....

R.A.C.V. Treat you like a person not a number... Don't you believe that crap.
One of THE worst experiences of my life has been dealing with R.A.C.V. Insurance when making a claim.
Shannons get my insurance premium $$$ now for my three vehicles.
'nutha tick for shannons, OURM3 garaged in Hawthorn, restricted use, ancient driver etc $877.00
1900 for both X5 and M3.....

shannon's for me as I said earlier however....
driver training cover now has exclusions if it is held on a closed road or track.

allianz also competitive previously.
