This RACV event is a practice run for the COE.
We have space for 30 cars. First in best dressed, as per this forum and emails, and I shall give up my spot to a member if we reach 31.
This is a dry run for the COE new organisers as we need to plan the series carefully. Concept is pretty much sorted, details to go. Still putting the team together. Event Commander Scotty Muir and Max Chester are doing all the fine tuning. Ken Lee and I will arrange the Judging and training of same. Tony Whelan is registration and Scoring.
Announcements shortly. I know it's getting close people but we are all under the hammer. We have not yet reached 30 and I'll get the names up soon.
Including me there are replies totalling 13 on these forums so we still have room for 17 cars less my email RSVP's which is only a few. My feeling is we will get 30.

RACV Classic Showcase / British and European Show
In case you missed it, here's what our Editor, Graeme Eime had to say about last year
"This particular event held annually at Flemington Racecourse is one of the premium classic car shows. It is also the annual Show-n-shine for the Mercedes Benz Club and some 300+ cars turned out for them. In return we had only around 20 members that turned up for the day with their well prepared cars. Ruthie (last years winner with her Isetta had pride of place in the show area with Tim Whiting as a partner. Tim decided to enter the best classic car in show competion to see how many points his car could attract in an open competition - these points will then be compared to our club show-n-shine points for comparative purposes.
It was a magnificent day weather wise but just a tad too hot so the club marquee was extremely handy. We had a fine mix of cars from 2002’s through E30’s, E30 racing cars, E46, 1 series, E90 and X5. This was the last event for Ruthie and Howdie as the Air Force has transferred Howdie back to Brisbane. We believe Ruthie is to become the editor for the QLD car club so I am sure we will hear from them from time to time.
I recommend this show to members and truly hope we have more attendees in 2009. There is a wide range of British and European cars on show - you can easily spend 3-4 hours wandering around looking plus the excellent food stalls and coffee outlets are in abundance.
Ed"
All I can say is this is filling up fast and you need to register asap. Ballarat BMW Club have asked to enter also and if you don't confirm by pm 13th May we will give the spaces remaining to Ballarat.

The morning started off grey and errr shall I say.... a little moist. I had washed the car at about 2:00am and tried to get some sleep before picking up Leo and then we went across town to assist event commander Scott and Natalie to transport gear for set up. The wipers were on the whole trip flicking grotty road grime and drizzle off the windscreen. Need to invent a wiper for the whole car aaaargggh! Did not get time to even wipe it over at the event.
Otherwise the grey lifted by the time we arrived at Scotty's and we had a clear run back to Flemington. Saw lots of old cars heading in that general direction. 33 BMW's made it to our allotment and approx 50 people were apparently enjoying what was a great turnout. Will leave the details for the Mag write up.
Thanks to all who seem to materialise and pitch in. Thanks also to Judges and volunteers Scott, Max, Tony, Judy, Michelle, Rob, Dani, Chris and Danii, David, Ken, Marilyn, Taylor, Leo Sam, Keith, Chris and everyone for turning out to make it a great BMW Club day. All is looking well and very exciting for the upcoming COE if this was anything to go by. New members and some old ones rejoining again is all good news. Food was great (thanks Cristy's Spit Roast) and feedback on all efforts was good, please post your comments here.
There will be a debrief on the event with the organising sub committee to ensure we are doing the best we can for the COE. Tony will post up results soon. Please share your pics and if you need to know how, here's how to get these large images up.

What a great day, from the time we arrived just after 9am to time of departure 4pm the day just flew by. I can't believe I didn't even have time to take any pics myself. There was a great turnout from many of the clubs & The BMWCCV display was of a very high standard overall, a sign of great things to come from us.
I wish to thank everyone that made the effort despite an initially grim forecast to come & show off their fine cars had a great day.
Thanks especially to our support team, judges & Ned that helped to make this event come off.
We would like to hold a post event catch up/eats somewhere so that we can get some feedback as to how to improve for our next effort. We have a great sponsor being Sonax & will be looking at some interesting locations for future events.

Hi just a couple of ideas for the next COE / show and shine events.
First off, the arrangement of the cars ... when you went past the mercedes area the cars were all organised into model / years. When viewing our club the cars were all mixed in together "carpark like". I propose, as the club had a list of the attending cars they could have been arranged in some sort of order ... oldest to youngest or even in ascending order. ie 02, e21, e30, etc. or e12, e28, e34 etc in case of 5 series, so the average passer-by could see the natural progression in the marque.
Secondly, in past years the cars being judged had a little check list as a sticker on the windscreen ... so at a glance the owner (or attendee) of the car would know if judging had been completed. Personally, on the day I was unsure of which car (as i was looking after 2) had been finished or not, and as a result some of the other cars I had wished to see had already left for the day.
Thirdly, I noted some talk from others of what the actual judging criteria is. Are we judging originality, cleanliness, condition or effort put in ... OR a combination of all? I was informed some judges were critical of non-original equipment on vehicles, ie non genuine replacement parts or upgrade options.

Thanks for Feedback Rod,
Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we were not able to marshall vehicles on the day into any organised display, this will not be the case for future events & we plan to have a more structured presentation. Perhaps arranged by series rather than age groups:
02s,
3,
5,
6 & 8,
7,
Roadsters & M Coupes,
Please keep in mind this was a dry run for future events. We will be running training sessions for judges & setting out standards & guidelines for scoring which will help make the judging process as fair as possible.
To my knowledge we are not running a Concours event, so therefore non standard modifications etc should not be penalised or effect scoring. We are looking at overall presentation, cleanliness, condition & some form of vehicle display (fact sheet or sign etc). This will be outlined in more detail prior to future events.

well said Scott. We did try to move cars but some didnot want to move as they had cleaned their cars where they stood and moving them would mean the uncleaned part of their tyres would show..........
just shows how serious you guys are and how the series will be terrific.
I shall try to have the Trophy presentation for the Roving Club Monthly at the new Doncaster BMW Bundoora on 6th July.
That should be a great Club night. :999:
