O.K. sort of off topic.................Handbrake just had a crack at me for too much BMW club things happening so I compromised. Had to leave out the BMW.

Nikon D2x, taken at Braeside.

As you can see, Launch control in full swing with weight shifted to the rear wheels, the rocket was taking off!

That would be good in a short vid. Was the exhaust the standard can rattle type? nice car, awesome GOR cruiser.

Yep, in the morning it sounded like I should have had 'Just Married' written on the side of it. The exhaust definitly brought out any imperfections in the car but it was actually a fantastic car and had barely any issues at all. Can't say the same about the M5!

It was a great GOR cruiser and a vetran of the road. Saved my hide many a time with its amazing handling and ability to turn a stupid 19 year old into a good driver. Thankfully it also taught me alot and helped me drop that title fairly quickly.

I did take vids of it the day I sold it, not sure if it was while launch control was on (its actually quite unspectacular) but I was trying to lose the tail which was almost impossible on normal dry roads as the thing just gripped! I do have other vids of it though while driving and from the side of the road, will have to show you some time.

Another image knocked together by one of the photographers at work who took shots of my car. Obviously there has been a little digital manipulation for effect!

I hate how the forum really distorts the photo's quality though.

Favourite pics so far... more to come but they'll be a long ways off due to unforeseen engine rebuild requirement. Once completed the engine bay will have also been properly detailed & refreshed also the leather seats restored & finally the Alpina decals to go on.

yes heathcote, only got 12.971@105.98 mph so far, car is now lighter with more power, should be good for mid 12s when I get back there, car is really set up for street/circuit, not drags though

or..... you had a load of firewood in the boot?
no room for rear seat passengers and not much room in the boot either with the top down so must be the launch!

They are impressive times for a heavy street car.

Well done.

For the strip it's hard to get consistent times in a manual, need an auto with a big hi-stall :D

I think both pictures were taken with a Canon Power Shot A720 - a small digital camera with a max 8 mega pixles.

The first picture was taken in a park near Caulfield (Melbourne) in the morning on 4 April 2007. The car just had a deatail done and I was keen to capture the look. I like the angle of this picture. I took a small step ladder with me and tried a few different angles and heights.

The second picture was taken on 4 April 2008 in a side street in St.Kilda (Melbourne) in the afternoon. I like this picture because of the reflection on the hood.

The dates are just a coincidence - I had not realised the two pictures were a year apart until I just checked for this post.

The car is a 94 318is with 230km on the clock.

Thanks for posting, according to the EXIF data both pictures were taken with an Olympus digital camera on the dates of 21/04/07 and 19/04/08 respectively. ;)

Also the title of your post doesn't mention what model of BMW is in the pictures. :)

Thanks for the info on the camera and the dates. I must have used the old camera - an Olympus, and I just went by the folder data. I made a change to the post and added the datails on the car.

That's cool. I got way too much spare time tonight.

EXIF stands for ‘Exchangeable Image File’ data and it is the information that your camera stores and embeds with your image file that tells you about it. It is stored when you take images in JPEG format (or TIFF). Almost all camera manufacturers support EXIF and whether you know it or not your camera is likely to be recording it with your image file.

Busted :o

There are various different types of software available to read all embedded EFIF data from every JPEG image providing it hasn't been stripped.

I did a quick google search and found a free-ware utility that reads the data - very cool. Now when I don't exactly remember when I took a picture I can quickly find out.

Usually you can just put your cursor over it if you use Windows (XP or Vista) and it will show you the data. Also keep in mind, if the data on your camera is incorrect, so will be the EXIF data, i.e. if your camera date is incorrect then the date stored on the file will be incorrect, always fun for when you go on o/seas trips and forget to keep changing time/date back!

This really makes me miss estoril blue, i'm contemplating getting it on my new M3 but then I think that is really boring having 2 M3's in a row the same colour! Although the black of the M5 did break it up I guess.
