Anyone know the answer?
TPS on the throttle body to the motronic systems seems to become erratic causing misfiring especially when the car is not used for a while. Aparently they get clogged. Is this something that can be rectified with a clean out or must it be replaced?

Ned.
Sometimes you can clean and reset, as there is a small amount of adjustment, to compensate for wear. But due to oil coming back through the manifold sometimes you will find replacing it is the best option.

For the cost of the TPS units I have always just replaced mine.

None, but for a late model Commodore this spare part is only $92.40.
Shock me with the price for the BMW equivalent.

Hi Ned, engine misfire can have several different causes. The TPS on the M20 engine is the most unlikely cause of an engine misfire, especially erratic misfire. I recommend to check the complete ignition system including pick up sensor on cylinder No. 6 lead and fuel injector wiring harness & connections. Regards Carl.
